PATHOLOGY IN THE
NORTHERN TERRITORY:
There are over 200 staff employed
within Pathology laboratories in the Northern Territory.
The Northern Territory
Government (NTG) employs over half of the Northern
Territory Pathology professionals. The largest public NTG
laboratory is situated at Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH). The other
laboratories are at Alice Springs Hospital (ASH), Katherine District
Hospital (KDH), Gove District Hospital (GDH) and Tennant Creek
Hospital (TCH).
There are now three private
Pathology laboratories in the Northern Territory. The largest
private lab in the NT is operated by Symbion -Western
Diagnostic Pathology (WDP). Another is
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP).
Gribbles
Pathology is currently establishing a laboratory in
the Darwin Private Hospital. SA Pathology
(Medvet/IMVS) also has a laboratory in Alice
Springs.
